Twitter safety update hides abusive tweets and blocks repeat offenders

Twitter is bolstering its efforts further to curb abuse and harassment on its platform. The micro blogging site has released three new tools to manage abusive users and tweets.
First up, Twitter will find permanently suspended users and stop them from creating new accounts. Next up, the service is rolling out ‘safe search’ which removes tweets that contain “potentially sensitive content” and tweets from blocked and muted accounts from search results. This safe search filter will be turned on by default and you have the option to opt out of either of those filters. With the third and final tool Twitter will identify and collapse potentially abusive and low-quality replies so the most relevant conversations are brought forward. These Tweet replies will still be accessible to those who seek them out. You can expect to see this change rolling out in the coming weeks.
Twitter has been focusing a lot to control and curb abuse on its platform. Last year, it launched a Twitter Trust and Safety Council. In November the company added the ability for users to mute words and conversations.
